For a while now one of the departments within my "business area" has been suffering from a hideous legacy process, and finally all our complaining has paid off and we get to do something about it!

So the rumours were true, and Steve Jobs announced the Mac Mini, a $499 "headless Mac". Arguments are now rife over whether it's really cheap, who it's aimed at, and what it means in the big picture, and while I can't profess to have any real insights in to anything, I'm certainly chock full of opinion!

For a good many years now the MS Office suite has included a subset of Visual Basic, dubbed Visual Basic for Applications. More or less anything than can be accomplished in "regular" VB can be done in VBA, although it can take more work to achieve the same results.

Providing I keep posting, this blog should contain musings about database development, the trials and tribulations of corporate IT policy, and general technical stuff.

While officially not a developer, it's turned out that the IT department in the corporate behemoth I work for is next to useless -- even packaging applications for deployment seems to tax them -- so with my background in programming I've taken it upon myself to do all the development within my department. It's quicker, easier, and quite frankly more fun than my "real" job -- administering a document management database...
