I am running around Hong Kong teaching classes in English to survive. My son has had a serious accident and the emergency room has billed my former wife 2000, which I can help with since I am moving to a new job next month pending visa OK. What's obscene: an emergency room visit in Hong Kong costs USD 13.00.
My Vaio has been fixed and I can resume dev work once I get paid.
But what's truly obscene is the situation in New Orleans, in which poor and black people have once again learned their place in Amerikkkan society (and, I use that spelling advisedly).
Cf. Paul Krugman in the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/02/opinion/02krugman.html [1]
He reports that in Biloxi, Air Farce personnel were playing basketball while nearby reporters listened to reports of chaos in New Orleans.
They are imitating the most disgusting and irresponsible President in history, a man without compassion, without the ability to empathize or even sympathize, who automatically chooses words that make it crystal clear that he takes no responsibility for what has happened and is uninformed (Bush said that no-one could have anticipated the levee breaks: this was either a bald-faced and impeachable lie, or evidence of clinical and likewise impeachable ignorance).
Amerikkka: welcome to the ranks of the Third World, courtesy of your pride.
