Welcome to the developer.* Software Development Books Blog
Welcome. This is the inaugural post to the developer.* Software Development Books Blog. The open-ended name matches our intent to keep the subject area of this blog similarly open-ended. Your suggestions and comments are welcome.
Hypothetically Asked Questions (HAQ)
What is the URL for the blog?
The main home page for the Software Development Books Blog is:
http://www.developerdotstar.com/community/softwarebooksblog
The RSS feed is:
http://www.developerdotstar.com/community/softwarebooksfeed
Who would want to read this blog?
We're not sure yet. Maybe you. Seriously, though, this blog is based on the idea that there might be some people out there who are interested in the topic of software development books in general, people who like to read in a variety of technical and non-technical areas, who like to keep up with what new books are coming out, who the authors are, who the publishers are, what the trends are.
A lot of people like to read book reviews excerpts, and author interviews. Some people want to know in advance what new books are in the works. And some people even like to geek out on collecting first editions and old software books. We aim to appeal to avid readers, industry watchers, and collectors, as well as authors, publishers, agents, and people in the industry.
Who can post this blog?
At this time, anybody who has a free developer.* account can post to their blog and use the developer.* Topics field to include the post in the Software Development Books Blog (it's at the end of the list). Some people may post to the Software Development Books Blog exclusively, others may only occassionally include something from their own blog that pertains to the software books topic area.
If you are an author, publisher, publicist, or reader who would like to have some information or announcement posted to the blog, please rather than creating a developer.* account just to post to the blog.
The diversity of topics is too much for me. Can it be more targeted?
Yes! As much as possible we do our best to put posts in subcategories, and each of those subcategories has it's own home page and RSS feed. You can also follow only the posts by individual authors if you wish.
Will all posts to this blog be included in the main developer.* Blogs page/feed?
Not necessarily. Often it will depend on what the subject matter of the post is and whether the post is also intended for general interest. For example, if a developer.* blogger writes a book review, it's possible that it might show up in both the main developer.* blogs page/feed and the Software Development Books Blog.
Who can I contact?
if you have any comments, requests, or suggestions. Publishers and authors, please if you'd like to contribute a book announcement, news, or excerpt on the blog.
Thank you for your interest.
