Blood and Glass

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7112929.stm:

"A British schoolteacher has been arrested in Sudan accused of insulting Islam's Prophet, after she allowed her pupils to name a teddy bear Muhammad."

"Colleagues of Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, said she made an "innocent mistake" by letting the six and seven-year-olds choose the name."

The world is dominated by the dreamlike, better safe than sorry, theology, ethics and logic of the 14 year old thanks in part to the example set by Bush, who is shown by Peter Singer ("The President of Good and Evil") to have ceased developing ethically and even logically at the age of 14.

The men and boys who gather with stones to throw do not reflect that Mohammed was not G-d, but G-d's messenger, in Islamic theology. While the ban in the Q'uran on images is real and caused massive protests against the image of Mohammed in a respectful film of Mohammed's life several years ago, many theologians of many faiths would say you can only "blaspheme" G-d.

A great Moslem and a great man, Cassius Clay, changed his name to Mohammed Ali out of respect. No man calls himself Christ, no man calls himself Allah and this is as it should be, I suppose. But are there not many Moslem men called Mohammed?

Children naming a teddy bear after the most important figure in their religious lives after G-d's Messenger are a ceremony of innocence that should not be drowned in blood and glass. Kids simply don't name their toys after G-d.

But in the filth we see on the Internet a great message is emerging and this is the hatred of innocence, an occult and monstrous hatred of the sort that fares loose at the ends of times. A weakness that cannot endure the idea that a child's toy might be important, that throws the doll in the flames in Nanking because the doll was made in Japan, and then the kid after the toy, even before the Japanese arrive to finish the job, of blood and glass.

A nihilistic weakness that assaults people from Kathy Sierra to Bill Clinton who make real contributions, and a humble British teacher who put her safety on the line to do good.

No, this is NOT against Islam, because when I was 13 years old, as a result of several years of pre-Vatican II inodctrination by crazed Croatian and Polish nuns, I decided to be better safe than sorry, and if I dropped my Rosary would confess this "sin", much annoying poor old Father O'Gilhooley you may be sure.

The "Jesus" boy who emerged from the stacks at Border's in Valparaiso IN during a seminar being given by the director of Valparaiso University's international studies department, to tell us both that "Jesus" would shoot us for using his name: the men and boys who gather to stone women for being raped by men and boys: the Jewish men and boys who start fights with Arabs in Paris: THEY ALL BLASPHEME, they are blasphemers of the name of G-d, whether G-d is Buddha, Christ or Mahomet.

And the journos of the BBC who act so "respectfully" towards "other faiths" are being taken for fools.

A man need not respect men and boys who take out their hatred of teachers and of women on Ms. Gibbons, and their denial and hatred of their weakness on innocent Muslim children.

Shame world-wide, shame world-wide, on crowds of men and boys who gather in the Devil's name to spatter the face of the Other, whom Levinas called the face of G-d withdrawn from the world, with blood and glass.

With blood and glass!

Gillian Gibbons pardoned...

...this may be an instance of amplification of a confusion that started in a misunderstanding about who may be named "Mohammed". The BBC may be culpable if the reporter didn't know the usual Q'uranic interpretation, but, their journalism is the best in the world I've found.
